Equipment
- Goals
- Balls
- Cones or markers to outline the 40x35 area
Setup
- Area: 40x35 yard area marked with cones
- Goals: One goal centred on each end line
- Team Red: 4 red outfield players spaced evenly across their own half
- Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the red team's goal
- Team Blue: 4 blue outfield players spaced evenly across their own half
- Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the blue team's goal
- Equipment: Cones or markers outlining the 40x35 area, with a supply of balls placed around the outside of the playing area
Instructions
- Teams play 4v4 with continuous play, retrieving balls that go out quickly.
- A goal can only be scored after an attacker dribbles past a defender.
- Restart play from the goalkeeper who conceded after a goal.
- Allow short breaks to manage intensity.
Coaching Points
- Position yourself well for support and passing options.
- Maintain close ball control using both feet.
- Be aware of when to dribble, shield, pass, or shoot.
- Constantly scan for space and angles to exploit.
- Show a positive mindset to attack defenders.
- Develop agility to reverse or change directions.
- Use disguise and deception to beat opponents.
- Encourage individuality and creative expression.
- Focus on quick acceleration after ball reception.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Allow goals only after two defenders are beaten.
2. Reduce the team size to 3v3 to increase intensity.
Make it easier:
1. Increase team size to 5v5 for more support.
2. Allow goals without needing to dribble past a defender.
3. Remove goalkeepers to simplify objectives.
