Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • 20x20 yard area
  • One soccer ball per player
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard area
  2. Group: 1 black outfield player starts stationary with a ball inside the area
  3. Equipment: 1 soccer ball per player
Instructions
  1. Players perform a step over, turning 180 degrees with the ball using the outside of the same foot.
  2. Follow acquisition stages by increasing speed and complexity.
  3. Combine other ball moves, switching techniques on command.
  4. Use the skill in game-like scenarios to enhance decision-making.
Coaching Points
  • Use acceleration effectively after the move
  • Maintain close control of the ball
  • Disguise intentions while turning
  • Keep head up to increase awareness
  • Display a positive attitude
  • Focus on the technique and speed of the move
  • Understand timing for executing in-game
  • Gradually increase move fluency and speed
  • Master varied ball manipulation techniques
  • Encourage minimal glancing down once proficient
  • Cultivate comfort and refinement using the move
  • Track progress through stages using either foot

Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the pace of the activity.
2. Add defensive pressure to simulate game conditions.
3. Combine with additional feints or turns.
Make it easier:
1. Start with a larger practice area for more space.
2. Practice the move without a full 180-degree turn initially.
3. Slow down the pace to focus on technique.
