Equipment
- Cones for area marking and goals/gates
- Standard football
Setup
- Area: 30x20 yard area marked with cones
- Goals: One gate (two cones) centred on each end line
- Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts in their own half
- Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts in their own half
- Equipment: Cones marking the four corners of the area and cones forming a gate at each end line, 1 standard football
Instructions
- Play follows regular football with each team trying to score through goals or making five consecutive passes without interruption.
- A successful pass sequence grants one point if uninterrupted for five passes.
- Consecutive reset pass back to the passer does not count towards the pass count.
Coaching Points
- Communicate effectively on the field.
- Maintain optimal angles and distances for support.
- Make quick, informed decisions on and off the ball.
- Control the ball well with the first touch.
- Keep your head up to survey options.
- Move actively to support teammates.
- Aim to score with a positive outlook.
- Provide quick support in possession.
- Position your body to facilitate good passes.
- Pass forward when advantageous.
- Avoid forcing risky passes.
- Keep the ball moving to disorganize the opponent.
- Choose the best passing option available.
- Support correctly by creating and exploiting space.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area to increase pressure on players.
2. Require seven consecutive passes for a point.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area to allow more space and time for decisions.
2. Allow shorter pass sequences for a point, e.g., three passes.
