Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones for 20x45 playing area
  • 2 goals
  • Cones for two 1-yard gates
  • Soccer balls
Setup
  1. Area: 20x45 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: One goal at each end of the area, each with a goalkeeper
  3. Team Red: 2 red outfield players lined up at the starting point of their side, facing the blue team
  4. Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line at the red team's end
  5. Team Blue: 2 blue outfield players lined up at the starting point of their side, facing the red team
  6. Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line at the blue team's end
  7. Equipment: cones marking the 20x45 playing area, cones marking a 1-yard gate positioned centrally in front of each goal
Instructions
  1. The first player from the blue team passes the ball to the first player in the red team.
  2. The blue player then closes down the red player.
  3. The red player dribbles towards a gate, attempting to beat the defender.
  4. After dribbling through a gate, the red player shoots at either goal.
  5. Rotate players regularly to switch team roles.
Coaching Points
  • Maintain close control of the ball.
  • Keep your head up to assess options.
  • Show positive attitude and confidence.
  • Accelerate effectively past defenders.
  • Apply quick changes of direction.
  • Master good dribbling technique.
  • Create and exploit space in 1v1 situations.
  • Develop flair and use creativity to outsmart opponents.
  • Focus on a good finish after dribbling.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the gates to increase difficulty.
2. Introduce a time limit for dribbling through gates and shooting.
3. Add a second defender to challenge dribblers further.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the gates to make dribbling easier.
2. Allow players to choose only one goal to target, simplifying decision-making.
3. Have defenders apply moderate pressure instead of full effort.
