Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones
  • 3 Mini Goals
  • Soccer Balls
Setup
  1. Area: 25x20 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: Two mini goals on one end line and one mini goal on the opposite end line
  3. Team Red: 2 red outfield players (defenders) start with the ball positioned near the single mini goal end, defending that goal
  4. Team Blue: 3 blue outfield players (attackers) start near the two mini goals end, ready to receive the pass and attack the single mini goal
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 25x20 area, soccer balls starting with the red defenders
Instructions
  1. Defenders pass the ball to the attackers.
  2. Attackers attempt to score in the single mini goal.
  3. Defenders aim to block the attackers and score in the opposite goals if they regain possession.
  4. Rotate defenders regularly after each play ends.
Coaching Points
  • Quick ball approach and effective communication.
  • Maintain concentration and stay light on feet.
  • Force attackers into predictable plays with body positioning.
  • Stay compact and cover space effectively.
  • Execute sound individual defending techniques: jockeying, tackling.
  • Maintain sight of the ball in marking situations.
  • Balance and control in 1v1 defending.
  • Understand when to press and when to concede ground.
  • Team coordination and effective marking.
  • Strong, communicative team dynamics.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Add a time limit for defenders to regain possession.
2. Introduce a neutral player for attackers.
Make it easier:
1. Reduce playing area size.
2. Use only two attackers.
3. Allow defenders additional points for clearances.
