Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones for boundaries
  • Balls for each player
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard grid marked with cones
  2. Group: 1 player starts inside the grid with a ball
  3. Equipment: Cones marking the corners/boundaries of the 20x20 yard grid, 1 ball per player
Instructions
  1. Players perform a scissor step by stepping over the ball from inside to outside using alternate feet.
  2. Create a double action before controlling the ball with the outside of the first foot.
  3. Follow skill acquisition stages: develop with a stationary ball, increase speed, combine moves, use in game-like situations, and apply with the less dominant foot.
Coaching Points
  • Accelerate quickly after the move.
  • Maintain close ball control.
  • Use disguise to deceive opponents.
  • Keep your head up.
  • Ensure a positive attitude.
  • Perfect the step-over technique.
  • Execute moves rapidly.
  • Time the move accurately.
  • Bend knees slightly for balance.
  • Increase move fluency and speed gradually.
  • Master different techniques.
  • Keep brief glances at the ball.
  • Improve comfort in 1v1 scenarios.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the space to 15x15 yards to increase difficulty.
2. Combine with a third move before acceleration.
3. Integrate an opponent for passive defense.
Make it easier:
1. Perform the move without moving, concentrating on technique.
2. Use larger space to allow more room for errors.
3. Simplify by focusing on a single scissor step.
