Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones for marking the playing area and goals
  • 4 Angled corner gates
  • Balls
  • Bibs in three colors for team identification
Setup
  1. Area: 25x25 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: 4 angled gates, one positioned in each corner of the area
  3. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts inside the area acting as a defender
  4. Team Blue: 2 blue outfield players start inside the area acting as attackers working together to pass through the gates
  5. Equipment: cones marking the boundary of the 25x25 yard area, cones forming the 4 angled corner gates, bibs in two colours to distinguish the red and blue teams
Instructions
  1. Blue and purple teams work together to maneuver the ball and pass through the gates to a teammate.
  2. Red team acts as defenders aiming to intercept and win the ball.
  3. Rotate team roles regularly to give players experience in both attacking and defending.
Coaching Points
  • Emphasize constant communication among teammates
  • Encourage players to position themselves at optimal angles and distances for support
  • Focus on first touch quality
  • Players should frequently look up to assess options
  • Incorporate dynamic movement across the field
  • Guide players on quality passing—considering accuracy, timing, and disguise
  • Stress proper pass selection and technique
  • Correct body positioning when receiving passes
  • Advise patience and composure during pressured scenarios
  • Encourage rapid ball movement
  • Assert ball control and protection to maintain possession
  • Develop awareness for various passing options and decision-making skills
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the gates to demand more precision.
2. Increase the number of defenders.
3. Limit the number of touches each attacker can take before passing.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the gates to provide easier passing targets.
2. Allow attackers unlimited touches to build confidence.
3. Remove a defender to give attackers more space and time.
