Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Balls
  • Cones
  • Two goals
  • Pinnies
Setup
  1. Area: 40x30 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: One goal centred on each end line
  3. Team Red: 2 red outfield players spaced evenly across their own half
  4. Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line at the red team's end
  5. Team Blue: 2 blue outfield players spaced evenly across their own half
  6. Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line at the blue team's end
  7. Coach: 1 grey coach positioned just outside the area near one end line to feed the first pass to a goalkeeper
  8. Equipment: 4 cones marking the corners of the 40x30 yard area, one goal on each end line, pinnies distinguishing the two teams
Instructions
  1. The goalkeeper receives the ball from the coach.
  2. Distribute the ball to a teammate strategically.
  3. Teammates aim to connect passes and reach the opposite goalkeeper.
  4. A successful catch by the opposite goalkeeper initiates an attack.
Coaching Points
  • Emphasize correct distribution technique
  • Promote effective communication among all players
  • Encourage quick and proactive decision-making
  • Assess and adjust to the ball's flight and pace
  • Focus on timing and precision of goalkeepers' throws
  • Use good footwork to adjust positions swiftly
  • Avoid unnecessary risks in distribution
  • Maintain light feet for agility
  • Communicate clearly when receiving and distributing the ball
  • Monitor quality of distribution technique
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Introduce a time limit for distribution.
2. Add an extra defender to increase pressure.
3. Require goalkeepers to distribute using both feet.
Make it easier:
1. Reduce playing area to make distributions easier.
2. Allow more passes prior to attempting to reach the opposite goalkeeper.
3. Use a larger or softer ball for easier handling.
