Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • 2 Goals
  • Balls
  • Cones for marking areas
  • Bibs for team differentiation
Setup
  1. Area: Half pitch, marked out with cones
  2. Goals: One goal at each end of the half-pitch, each with a goalkeeper
  3. Team Red: 5 red outfield players start in the playing area as the initial attacking team
  4. Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line at one end
  5. Team Blue: 10 blue outfield players split into two groups of 5, each group waiting behind one of the two goals
  6. Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line at the opposite end
  7. Equipment: 2 goals, cones marking the boundary of the half-pitch playing area, bibs differentiating the three rotating teams, balls for goalkeepers to start play
Instructions
  1. The goalkeeper passes to an attacker to initiate play.
  2. Attackers use combination plays to progress the ball towards the opposite goal.
  3. After finishing their attack, the attacking team moves to the waiting position behind that goal.
  4. The waiting team at the opposite end immediately starts their attack towards the other goal.
  5. Rotate teams after each attack to ensure all players participate.
Coaching Points
  • Promote effective communication among players.
  • Focus on a strong end product.
  • Emphasize a good first touch and playing at speed.
  • Prioritize forward play and accurate passing.
  • Ensure proper weight and timing of passes.
  • Form supportive angles and distances.
  • Encourage inventive individual and team combinations.
  • Coaches should observe for quick, impactful feedback.
  • Maintain diamond and triangular shapes for support.
  • Avoid forcing passes, maintain possession.
  • Emphasize quick exploitation of offensive opportunities.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Limit the number of touches each player is allowed.
2. Reduce the time a team has to score.
3. Introduce a neutral player who plays for the defending team.
Make it easier:
1. Allow unlimited touches to build confidence.
2. Use larger goals to increase scoring chances.
3. Introduce an extra player to the attacking team to create numerical overload.
