Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Balls
  • Cones for marking the 30x10 area and dividing into zones
Setup
  1. Area: 30x10 yard area marked with cones, divided into three equal zones.
  2. Team Red: 2 red outfield players start with 1 defender in the central zone and 1 additional defender waiting on the side to rotate in.
  3. Team Blue: 5 blue outfield players start with 3 attackers in the central zone and 1 supporting player in each end zone.
  4. Equipment: Cones marking the 30x10 area and dividing it into three equal zones, balls for the attackers in the central zone.
Instructions
  1. Start with a 3v1 in the central zone.
  2. Attackers attempt to pass to a supporting player in either end zone.
  3. If successful, two attackers and the defender move to the receiving end zone to continue the 3v1.
  4. The remaining attacker stays in the central zone.
  5. Rotate defenders regularly to maintain intensity.
Coaching Points
  • Communicate effectively with teammates.
  • Maintain good angles and distances for support.
  • Use a quality first touch to control the ball.
  • Keep your head up to assess passing options.
  • Deliver accurate passes with timing and disguise.
  • Select the appropriate technique for each pass.
  • Attempt to pass forward when possible.
  • Change direction on first touch to create space.
  • Move effectively to receive the ball.
  • Receive with the furthest foot to open up space.
  • Maintain strong body positioning.
  • Understand how and when to support the ball carrier.
  • Create space individually through smart movement.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase defensive pressure by adding another defender.
2. Reduce the size of the playing area for attackers.
3. Limit attackers to two touches to increase difficulty.
Make it easier:
1. Allow attackers unlimited touches to maintain possession.
2. Decrease the number of defenders to reduce pressure.
3. Widen the zones to provide more space for attackers.
