Equipment
- Soccer balls (one per player)
- Cones for boundary markers
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 1 red outfield player starts inside the area with a ball at their feet (repeat for however many players participate, each spaced evenly across the area with their own ball)
- Equipment: Soccer balls, one per player, spread throughout the area; cones marking the four corners and boundary of the 20x20 area
Instructions
- Players dribble their balls within the area using both feet.
- On the coach's command, players halt the ball with their foot, leap over it, and run to another ball.
- Continue the activity with repeated commands.
Coaching Points
- Maintain close ball control with both feet.
- Awareness of space and other players.
- Engagement and enjoyment are key.
- Adapt the session to be age-appropriate.
- Let the game facilitate learning naturally.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area.
2. Increase the frequency of commands.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area.
2. Allow more time between commands.
