Equipment
- Cones to mark the playing area
- One ball for each team
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Team Red: 4 red outfield players start spaced evenly inside the area, numbered 1 to 4
- Team Blue: 4 blue outfield players start spaced evenly inside the area, numbered 1 to 4
- Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 20x20 yard area, one ball for the red team and one ball for the blue team
Instructions
- Players pass the ball in sequence according to their number.
- Encourage calling out their numbers confidently before receiving the pass.
- Focus on passing accuracy and player movement.
- Change player numbers periodically to disrupt routine sequences.
Coaching Points
- Communicate effectively with teammates
- Position at good angles and distances for support
- Use a quality first touch
- Keep head up to scan for passing options
- Stay light on your feet
- Ensure pass accuracy, timing, and disguise
- Choose the correct passing technique
- Maintain smooth and coordinated team play
- Understand spatial awareness in the grid
- Move effectively to show for the ball
- Control the ball to gain advantage
- Decide quickly on pass type and execution
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area.
2. Increase the passing sequence, e.g., 1-4-2-3.
3. Introduce a neutral player for both teams to use.
Make it easier:
1. Expand the playing area.
2. Allow players to pass to non-sequential numbers temporarily.
3. Increase pause time between passes to allow better setup.
