Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Soccer balls
  • Cones for marking grid dimensions and scoring zones
Setup
  1. Area: 25x25 yard grid marked with cones, divided by a halfway line into two 25x12.5 yard halves.
  2. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts in the main playing area on the opposite half from the ball, ready to defend.
  3. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts with the ball in their own defensive half, ready to advance and attack the opposite end.
  4. Neutral: 1 black neutral player starts spaced evenly across the grid to support the attacking team without scoring.
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the four corners and halfway line of the 25x25 yard grid, plus 12 additional cones marking six 5x5 yard scoring zones (three positioned along each end of the grid).
Instructions
  1. Begin with the possessing team advancing the ball.
  2. The neutral team supports the attacking team but doesn't score.
  3. Score by having a player turn and dribble into a scoring zone.
  4. After reaching a zone, transfer possession to the other team to attack their end.
  5. Rotate teams based on a set scoring or time limit.
Coaching Points
  • Ensure quality first touch.
  • Use quick acceleration from turns.
  • Maintain close control of the ball.
  • Provide effective support to teammates.
  • Keep head up to gauge space and opponents.
  • Foster a positive, assertive mentality.
  • Tailor technique to each scenario (shielding, turning, dribbling).
  • Adapt play speed as skills develop.
  • Dribble and turn proficiently with both feet.
  • Change direction swiftly under pressure.
  • Boost decision-making skills and spatial awareness.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce space within scoring zones to increase difficulty.
2. Limit touches to enhance ball control skills.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of scoring zones.
2. Allow more time for rotations and transitions.
3. Permit support team to score and not only assist.
