- Cones to mark field and end zones
Setup
- Area: 50x35 yard area marked with cones, plus a 5-yard end zone behind each end line
- Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts spaced evenly across the main playing area
- Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts spaced evenly across the main playing area
- Equipment: Cones marking the 50x35 yard area boundary and the 5-yard end zone lines behind each end line, with spare balls placed around the perimeter of the field for quick restarts
Instructions
- Teams aim to maintain possession.
- Players try to dribble into the opposition's end zone when they spot an opportunity.
- Players earn a point by stopping the ball in the end zone.
- No standing or defending is permitted in end zones.
Coaching Points
- Promote clear communication among teammates.
- Encourage smart early decisions on and off the ball.
- Cultivate a good first touch and promote playing with heads up.
- Keep the ball moving and look to play into space.
- Focus on quality passing: accuracy, timing, and disguise.
- Select forward passes when possible.
- Adjust angles on first touch to improve positioning.
- Encourage a range of dynamic movements: diagonal, overlapping, etc.
- Support with diamond and triangle formations.
- Discourage forcing passes; maintain possession.
- Utilize field spread to maximize space.
- Encourage constant awareness of passing options.
- Observe from outside to provide constructive feedback.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of playing area.
2. Limit the number of touches per possession.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area.
2. Allow one defender to enter the end zone on defense.
