Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones for boundary and gate marking
  • One goal with a goalkeeper
  • Soccer balls
  • Bibs/Jerseys for team identification
Setup
  1. Area: 40x55 yard area marked with cones, with two gates set up inside
  2. Goals: One goal centred on the end line of the area
  3. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts stationed opposite the gates, facing blue across the centre of the area
  4. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts with the ball at the centre of the area, facing red
  5. Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the end goal
  6. Equipment: Cones marking the 40x55 yard boundary and two gates positioned between the centre and the goal, soccer balls, bibs/jerseys for team identification
Instructions
  1. A blue player passes to a red player, then runs through a gate before challenging.
  2. Red players move towards the goal, deciding when to shoot.
  3. After an attempt, the next blue player repeats the process.
  4. Teams switch roles after a fixed time.
Coaching Points
  • Use laces to dribble effectively
  • Limit touches to maintain stride
  • Control the ball with good first touch
  • Keep head up to assess options
  • Aim for accuracy in shooting
  • Be aware of space and defender movements
  • Adopt a positive attitude to attack opportunities
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce available space to increase difficulty.
2. Add another defender to challenge the attacker.
Make it easier:
1. Widen the gates to allow easier access.
2. Give attackers more time with the ball by delaying defender pressure.
3. Let attackers start closer to the goal for better shooting chances.
