Equipment
- Cones to outline the playing area
- Goals and goalkeepers
- Soccer balls
Setup
- Area: 30x20 yard area marked with cones
- Goals: One goal centred on each end line
- Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starting behind the opponent's goal as a supporting player ready to make attacking runs into the area
- Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line at the attacking team's target end
- Team Red: 1 red outfield player starting behind their own goal, positioned to defend and challenge attacking runs
- Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line at the opposite end
- Equipment: Cones marking the four corners of the 30x20 yard area, one goal positioned on each end line
Instructions
- The attacking team aims to score from rebounds.
- Attackers make runs behind the backline to create scoring chances.
- The defending team gains possession with a pass from the touchline when the ball goes out.
- Continuous play focuses on quick transitions and exploiting rebounds.
Coaching Points
- Effective communication among players
- Create good angles and spaces for support
- Keep your head up to scan for opportunities
- Deliver accurate and timely passes
- Use the furthest foot to receive and turn
- Choose the right passing technique
- Adapt skill choices based on defender positioning
- Scan early for scoring opportunities
- Support players must provide two passing options
- Ensure defenders maintain realistic play
- Use diamond and triangle shapes for support
- Attackers should combine and outsmart defenders
- Be aware of defender positions
- Have a quality first touch using the right surface
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area to 25x15 yards.
2. Add an extra defender to increase pressure.
3. Limit attackers' touches to two before shooting.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area to 35x25 yards.
2. Reduce the number of defenders.
3. Remove the requirement for supporting runs.
