Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • 4 soccer balls
  • 8 cones for marking the playing area
Setup
  1. Area: 15x15 yard square marked with cones
  2. Group: 4 black players, one with a ball positioned on each side of the square
  3. Neutral: 1 black tagger player without a ball starting in the center of the square
  4. Equipment: 8 cones marking the corners and midpoints of the 15x15 yard square, 4 soccer balls one per side player
Instructions
  1. Players with the ball aim to dribble across to the opposite or adjacent sides without being tagged.
  2. Players should aim for ten crossings, with at least five being to the opposite side.
  3. When a player is tagged three times, they swap roles with the tagger.
  4. The player with the most successful crossings becomes the round winner.
  5. Use this drill for conditioning or aerobic sessions, adjusting based on age and fitness level.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage quick and controlled dribbling.
  • Stress the importance of quality ball control.
  • Emphasize on producing an end result.
  • Train endurance to overload the aerobic system effectively.
  • Adjust intensity or duration to enhance training when needed.
  • Prevent over-training by allowing adequate recovery.
  • Keep coaching adaptable to individual player needs.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the square to increase difficulty.
2. Add a second tagger to the middle area.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the square to make tagging easier.
2. Allow players to use only one foot to dribble.
