Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Balls
  • Cones or mini goals
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard rectangular area marked with cones
  2. Goals: Four goals (cones or mini goals), one positioned at each corner of the area, with diagonal pairs belonging to each team
  3. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starting centrally in the area, man-marking their assigned Blue opponent
  4. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starting centrally in the area, man-marking their assigned Red opponent
  5. Equipment: Balls for dribbling, plus 4 cones or mini goals marking the four corners of the area
Instructions
  1. Players attempt to score by dribbling towards and shooting on either of the opponent's diagonal goals.
  2. Each player must maintain their marking responsibility throughout the drill.
  3. Encourage players to use dribbling skills to beat their marker.
  4. Rotate roles regularly to ensure a balanced practice for all.
Coaching Points
  • Use proper angles of support.
  • Maintain close ball control.
  • Utilize disguise in dribbling.
  • Take a good first touch.
  • Keep your head up.
  • Show a positive attacking attitude.
  • Ensure quick foot movements.
  • Execute proper dribbling technique.
  • Accelerate at the right moments.
  • Choose the appropriate dribble type.
  • Create and exploit space in 1v1.
  • Communicate and work with teammates.
  • Time the execution of moves carefully based on opponent's distance.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Decrease the playing area to increase dribbling difficulty.
2. Assign a neutral player who can assist either team.
3. Limit touches to increase decision-making speed.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area for more space.
2. Reduce the number of opponents one player must face.
3. Allow players to shoot from a shorter distance to target.
