Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones for delineating playing area
  • 3 Mini goals
  • Footballs
Setup
  1. Area: 25x20 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: Two mini goals at one end, one mini goal centred on the opposite end
  3. Team Red: 2 red outfield players (defenders) start positioned near the central mini goal at one end, starting with the ball
  4. Team Blue: 3 blue outfield players (attackers) start spaced evenly at the end with the two mini goals, ready to receive the ball
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 25x20 yard area, 2 mini goals at one end, 1 mini goal at the opposite end, footballs for defenders to start play
Instructions
  1. Defenders start with the ball, passing to an attacker.
  2. Attackers advance towards the mini goal, aiming to score.
  3. Defenders recover and work as a pair to stop the attack.
  4. If the ball is won, defenders attempt to score in either mini goal.
  5. Rotate defenders regularly to maintain intensity.
Coaching Points
  • Communicate effectively with teammates
  • Maintain good angles and distances for support
  • Use a good first touch and keep head up
  • Move into space quickly and be aware of surroundings
  • Show a positive attitude to scoring
  • Ensure quality of passes with accuracy, timing, and disguise
  • Encourage quick support for the ball holder
  • Keep the ball circulating effectively
  • Execute timely, weighted passes
  • Encourage early shots on goal
  • Make well-informed passing decisions
  • Recognize attacking opportunities in outnumbered situations
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area size.
2. Increase the number of defenders to three.
3. Limit attackers' touches on the ball.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area size.
2. Allow attackers to use more touches.
3. Add a neutral player to support the attackers.
