Equipment
- Soccer balls
- Cones for marking the 20x20 area
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 1 red outfield player starts on the perimeter of the area with a ball
- Equipment: 1 soccer ball for the player, 4 cones marking the corners of the 20x20 area
Instructions
- Begin with players performing the move on a stationary ball.
- Use the inside of the foot to execute the fake turn, swiveling hips to deceive an opponent.
- Advance to performing the move while moving at a slow pace.
- Increase speed and incorporate decision-making scenarios.
- Encourage players to use their non-dominant foot to repeat stages 1-3.
Coaching Points
- Maintain close control of the ball.
- Keep head up to enhance awareness.
- Perfect the technique for effective execution.
- Focus on the speed of movement.
- Bend knees and stay light on feet.
- Gradually increase fluency and speed.
- Master specific techniques for each movement.
- Glance down briefly only when necessary.
- Develop balance and coordination through practice.
- Enhance spatial awareness during execution.
- Adapt to using both dominant and non-dominant feet.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the practice area to increase difficulty.
2. Add passive defenders for players to navigate around.
3. Limit time for the move to encourage faster execution.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the practice area for more maneuverability.
2. Allow extra time for each movement phase.
3. Perform the practice without defenders initially.
