- 2 Goals
- Multiple Balls
- Cones/Markers for boundaries
- Bibs for teams
Setup
- Area: 50x35 yard area marked with cones
- Goals: Two goals positioned back to back, 5 yards apart, centred in the middle of the area
- Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts spaced across their own half, defending their goal
- Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the red team's goal
- Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts spaced across their own half, defending their goal
- Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the blue team's goal
- Equipment: cones marking the corners and boundary of the 50x35 yard area, multiple balls distributed around the playing area for quick restarts
Instructions
- Teams start with a ball and aim to score in the opposing goal while defending their own.
- Players can move freely across the area to maintain possession, including behind their goal.
- After a goal, the scoring team retains possession, starting with their goalkeeper.
- When the ball goes out, restart play quickly by passing the ball back in.
- Encourage quick passes and runs to exploit the opposition's defensive positions.
Coaching Points
- Emphasize constant player communication.
- Establish supportive angles and appropriate distances for effective passing.
- Develop a good first touch and play with the head up.
- Ensure pass accuracy, timing, and disguise.
- Select the correct pass technique based on the defensive setup.
- Display quick, confident passing and movement to open up space.
- Maintain supportive positioning to provide multiple passing options.
- Encourage creative runs to disrupt defensive lines.
- Defenders should regain possession quickly and counterattack efficiently.
- Aim to finish scoring opportunities promptly.
- Focus on space creation as individuals and as a team.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area to increase pressure.
2. Limit the number of touches a player can take.
3. Add a neutral player to assist the team in possession.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the area size to allow more ball control.
2. Allow an extra defender from the defending team in the goal area.
3. Permit unlimited touches to increase confidence with ball handling.
