Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones/Markers for the field boundaries and gates
  • Balls for each player
Setup
  1. Area: 30x30 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: One gate on each of two adjacent sides of the area
  3. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts behind their team's gate, ready to defend
  4. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts behind their team's gate, ready to attack
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the four corners and boundaries of the 30x30 area, plus additional cones forming a gate on two adjacent sides
Instructions
  1. Each round, one player from each team enters the field.
  2. Players aim to dribble through the opponent’s gate to score.
  3. After an attempt to score, players switch from attacking to defending roles.
  4. Once the defensive play concludes, players rejoin their teams.
  5. Repeat continuously, encouraging quick transitions and space exploitation.
Coaching Points
  • Use laces to drive the ball at speed
  • Maintain few touches to keep the stride fluid
  • Move quickly to capitalize on open space
  • Focus on a good first touch out of feet
  • Keep head up for spatial awareness
  • Scan for opportunities to advance past defenders
  • Develop positive attitude towards breaking the line of defense
  • Apply suitable skills under pressure
  • Emphasize quick decision-making to exploit space
  • Encourage control while advancing with pace
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area.
2. Increase the number of players on the field, creating a 2v2 situation.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area.
2. Allow players extra touches on the ball.
3. Provide players with a head start before the defender engages.
