Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones to mark boundaries
  • Two small goals
  • Footballs
Setup
  1. Area: 50x40 yard area marked with cones, divided into three equal thirds along its length.
  2. Goals: One small goal centred on each end line.
  3. Team Red: 4 red outfield players start in the central third for the 4v4, plus 1 red wide player positioned just outside the central third on the flank.
  4. Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the red team's goal.
  5. Team Blue: 4 blue outfield players start in the central third for the 4v4, plus 1 blue wide player positioned just outside the central third on the flank.
  6. Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the blue team's goal.
  7. Equipment: Cones marking the four corners of the 50x40 area and the two lines dividing it into thirds, two small goals centred on each end line, footballs for play.
Instructions
  1. Teams play 4v4 in the central third.
  2. Limit possession to five passes before using the wide player.
  3. The wide player takes a touch and crosses into the goal area at speed.
  4. Central players attack the cross to score first-time.
  5. Defenders can enter the final third to block the attack.

Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the maximum number of passes before using the wide player.
2. Add an additional defender in the central third.
3. Require wide player to deliver first-time cross.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the area size for more space to play.
2. Allow more passes before going wide.
3. Permit defenders to only intercept without tackles.
