Equipment
- - Cones/Markers for pitch and zone setup.
- - Three small goals.
- - Footballs.
- - Scoreboard or method for keeping score.
Setup
- Area: 30x20 yard area marked with cones, divided into three equal 10x20 yard zones.
- Goals: Three small goals positioned side by side across one end line of the area.
- Team Blue: 3 blue outfield players start with the ball at the end of the area opposite the three goals.
- Team Red: 6 red outfield players positioned as two defensive lines of 3, one line in the middle zone and one line in the zone directly in front of the goals.
- Equipment: Cones marking the outer 30x20 yard boundary and the two zone dividing lines, three small goals set across the end line.
Instructions
- The attacking team starts with the ball and tries to penetrate two defensive lines to score.
- Defending teams must stay in their zones, maintaining 3v3 battles.
- Track scores to encourage competition.
- Regularly rotate team roles and positions to maintain engagement.
- Encourage precision in passing and intelligent movement across zones.
Coaching Points
- Encourage constant communication for coordinated movement and passing.
- Prioritize precise first touch to secure possession under pressure.
- Maintain heads-up posture to identify passing options and space.
- Teach effective passing angles to open up the play.
- Aim for forward passes to build attacking momentum.
- Deliver passes with accuracy and timing to challenge defenders.
- Select pass type considering teammates' and defenders’ positions.
- Receive on the foot farthest from pressure to create opportunities.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce available space by decreasing the pitch size.
2. Limit the number of touches per player to two.
3. Add a neutral player in each zone to support defenders.
Make it easier:
1. Increase pitch size to allow more space for play.
2. Allow multiple touches to enhance control and accuracy.
3. Add a neutral player to assist the attacking team.
