Equipment
- Cones for marking the area
- Soccer balls for serves
- Goalkeeper gloves
Setup
- Area: 10x10 yard area with a 4-yard square marked in the center using cones.
- Group GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned in the center of the 4-yard square.
- Neutral: 4 black server players, one positioned on each side of the 4-yard square with balls.
- Equipment: Cones marking the 10x10 yard outer area and the 4-yard center square.
Instructions
- The goalkeeper starts in the center of the square.
- As a signal is given, the server throws or kicks a ball towards the goalkeeper’s right for a first save.
- The goalkeeper performs a dive save and quickly resets.
- The goalkeeper rotates to face the next server for another save.
- Continue around the square, making saves from all sides.
- Switch to challenging the left side after several repetitions.
Coaching Points
- Maintain a forward body weight in set position.
- Use correct diving techniques.
- Communicate effectively with teammates.
- Present a large presence in 1v1 situations.
- Decide actions quickly and confidently.
- Intensify efforts as needed.
- Expect and prepare for shots at all times.
- Cover angles effectively.
- React swiftly to shots.
- Assessing opponents' approach angles and distances is crucial.
- Keep knees slightly bent for agility.
- Track ball flight and adjust position accordingly.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the time between saves, increasing the pace.
2. Increase the serving speed to challenge the goalkeeper further.
3. Add an element of unpredictability in the serve delivery side.
Make it easier:
1. Decrease the serving speed to allow more reaction time.
2. Increase distance between servers and the goalkeeper for more preparation time.
