Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones to mark the playing area and gates
  • 8 balls for attackers
Setup
  1. Area: 30x30 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: 4 gates, each 2 yards wide, marked with cones near each corner of the area
  3. Team Blue: 8 blue outfield attackers start spaced evenly across the area, each with a ball
  4. Team Red: 4 red defenders start one at each of the four gates, staying within 2 yards of their designated gate
  5. Equipment: cones marking the 30x30 yard area, cones marking the four 2-yard corner gates, 8 balls for attackers
Instructions
  1. Attackers aim to dribble through any gate to score a point.
  2. After breaking through a gate, attackers re-enter the area from any point and attempt again.
  3. Defenders must stay within 2 yards of their designated gate to block attackers.
  4. Defenders score a point by gaining possession of the ball.
  5. Rotate roles between defenders and attackers regularly.
Coaching Points
  • Maintain close control of the ball.
  • Head up to assess defender positions.
  • Make quick decisions on when and where to dribble.
  • Use acceleration to exploit space.
  • Bend knees to improve agility and balance.
  • Employ disguise and feints to beat defenders.
  • Develop confidence and creativity in 1v1 scenarios.
  • Use both feet for effective dribbling.
  • Focus on technical execution of dribbles.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the gates to 1 yard.
2. Limit attackers to using weaker foot only.
3. Allow defenders to move freely within the area.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the gates to 3 yards.
2. Allow attackers to pass between themselves.
3. Assign two defenders per gate instead of one.
