Equipment
- Cones for marking a 20x20 area
- Additional markers for a large circle
- Cones to indicate the start/finish line
- Soccer balls (one per player)
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 1 player starts at the start/finish line on the edge of the area with a ball
- Equipment: Cones marking the 20x20 area, additional markers forming a large circle within the area, cones indicating the start/finish line, one soccer ball per player
Instructions
- Players dribble their ball around the circle in a clockwise direction.
- The first to complete two laps is the winner.
- Encourage players to maintain close ball control while increasing speed.
- Repeat the race to keep competition lively.
Coaching Points
- Encourage players to maintain close control of the ball.
- Promote awareness of their position relative to others.
- Challenge players to use different parts of the foot to dribble.
- Foster a fun, competitive environment that encourages participation.
- Allow the game to guide learning; intervene minimally to correct errors.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the distance between the start/finish line and the circle.
2. Introduce obstacles inside the circle to navigate around.
3. Require players to use only their weaker foot.
Make it easier:
1. Reduce the lap count to one.
2. Allow resting if needed without resetting their position.
3. Use a larger circle to give players more space.
