Setup
  1. Area: 40x30 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: One goal centred on each end line
  3. Team Red: 2 red outfield players start positioned in their own defensive half, in front of their goal
  4. Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the red team's goal
  5. Team Blue: 3 blue outfield players start positioned in the attacking half, ready to receive the ball
  6. Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line at the opposite end from the attackers' target goal
  7. Neutral: 2 black players positioned in the defensive half to play the ball into the attacking trio
  8. Equipment: 10 cones marking the perimeter of the 40x30 yard area
Instructions
  1. The drill begins with one of the two teammates in the defending half playing a ball to the three attackers.
  2. The attacking trio must exploit their numerical advantage to create scoring chances.
  3. Encourage attackers to take shots when opportunities arise.
  4. Goalkeepers must stay alert and anticipate incoming balls.
  5. After a goal or defensive clearance, reset and repeat.
Coaching Points
  • Maintain a balanced stance with body weight forward.
  • Use clear and effective communication.
  • Make quick decisions, especially in 1v1 situations.
  • Cover angles and narrow the attacker's options.
  • Stay confident and positive.
  • Expect shots and be ready to react quickly.
  • Analyze the angle and pace of incoming plays.
  • Use proper footwork to adjust position promptly.
  • Watch and assess the flight of the ball carefully.
  • Focus on the precise timing of ball collection.
  • Encourage quick and positive take-offs and collections.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area to increase pressure.
2. Add a time limit for attackers to take a shot.
3. Introduce an additional defender to challenge attackers more.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area for more space.
2. Allow attackers a free dribble before defense engages.
3. Start attackers closer to the opposing goal.
