Equipment
- Cones or boundary markers to define a 20x20 area
- Balls (one per pair)
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 2 outfield players start standing back to back in the centre of the area, one pair per ball
- Equipment: Cones or boundary markers marking the corners of the 20x20 area, 1 ball per pair
Instructions
- On the coach's call, pairs perform a series of ball exchanges: turning and handing off the ball side to side, over the top, and under the legs.
- Encourage pairs to speed up while maintaining control and not dropping the ball.
- Regularly mix up pairs to ensure interaction among all players.
Coaching Points
- Encourage constant communication between partners.
- Maintain spatial awareness in the playing area.
- Emphasize having fun and enjoying the activity.
- Ensure relevancy and appropriateness of exercises for the players' age group.
- Allow the activity to guide learning with minimal direct coaching.
- Ensure full participation and engagement from all players.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the pace of the exercises.
2. Add more complex ball exchange techniques.
3. Reduce the size of the playing area to increase difficulty.
Make it easier:
1. Allow players to choose their preferred ball exchange techniques.
2. Increase the size of the playing area for more space.
3. Slow down the pace of the exercises to focus on technique.
