Equipment
- Cones to mark the playing area
- One ball per player
- One ball for the coach
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 1 player starts inside the area with a ball, spaced evenly across the area
- Neutral: 1 black defender (coach acting as the 'Sticky Defender') starts inside the area with a ball
- Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 20x20 yard area
Instructions
- Players dribble their balls while keeping control and avoiding the coach.
- The 'Sticky Defender' (coach) tries to tap players' balls with their own.
- If tagged, the player holds their ball up and stands still with legs apart.
- They can be freed if another player dribbles through their legs.
- Encourage players to keep moving and help each other.
Coaching Points
- Encourage continuous movement and awareness of space.
- Focus on close ball control and using different parts of the foot.
- Facilitate a fun and inclusive environment.
- Highlight teamwork and player interaction during the activity.
- Let the players learn through the dynamics of the game.
- Emphasize the importance of reacting quickly to avoid the 'defender'.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area to increase difficulty.
2. Limit the use of dominant foot to encourage weaker foot usage.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area to provide more space.
2. Allow players more time to dribble before the coach can tag them.
