Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • 1 ball per player
  • Cones for marking the area
  • Additional cones for 'Home' points
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
  2. Group: 1 player spaced evenly across the area with a ball
  3. Coach: 1 grey coach positioned at the edge of the area to call commands and receive players on 'Bait'
  4. Equipment: Cones marking the perimeter of the 20x20 yard area, plus additional cones scattered inside the area as 'Home' points
Instructions
  1. Players dribble their balls within the designated area using small touches.
  2. When the coach shouts 'Swim', players maintain their dribble with close control.
  3. Upon hearing 'Home', players dribble to the nearest cone and stop the ball.
  4. For 'Bait', players leave their balls and run to the coach.
  5. When 'Change' is yelled, players switch and dribble a different ball.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage players consistently.
  • Maintain awareness of space and others.
  • Use various parts of the foot for dribbling.
  • Keep the ball controlled with close taps.
  • Facilitate fun and engagement in the drill.
  • Permit players to learn through the game itself.
  • Develop basic dribbling techniques.
  • Utilize different speeds to control the ball effectively.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Decrease the playing area to increase difficulty.
2. Introduce defenders actively trying to steal the ball.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area for more space.
2. Allow players to walk instead of run when responding to commands.
