- Small goals
- Cones for boundaries
- Soccer balls
Setup
- Area: 30x35 yard area marked with cones
- Goals: One small goal centred on each end line
- Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts inside the area on their own half, free to move and link with their bounce players
- Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts inside the area on their own half, free to move and link with their bounce players
- Neutral: 4 black bounce players, 2 positioned on each end line outside the area near their own team's goal, able to move laterally along the line
- Equipment: cones marking the corners and boundaries of the 30x35 yard area, plus a small goal centred on each end line
Instructions
- Teams aim to score in the opponent's small goals.
- A goal counts only if a team uses a 1-2 pass with a bounce player before scoring.
- Bounce players serve as passing options and can support from various positions along the end line.
- Continuously play, encouraging movement and utilization of outside players.
- Monitor player workload and adjust intensity as needed.
Coaching Points
- Emphasize quick ball movement and decision-making.
- Encourage quality passes to maintain possession.
- Focus on creating productive end results.
- Strive for exercises that challenge aerobic endurance.
- Continuously monitor player recovery, adapting sessions as necessary.
- Incrementally increase intensity or duration to induce adaptation.
- Allow for flexible planning for optimal recovery.
- Avoid overtraining to prevent burnout and maintain performance quality.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area to increase pressure.
2. Implement a time limit for scoring after the 1-2 play.
3. Limit touches for the inside players to challenge decision speed.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area for additional space.
2. Allow goals without a mandatory 1-2 pass to simplify play.
3. Permit bounce players to enter the field temporarily for overload situations.
