Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • - Cones to mark the 20x20 yard practice area.
  • - Footballs, one per player.
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
  2. Group: 1 player spaced evenly with others around the perimeter of the area, each with a ball
  3. Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 20x20 yard area, 1 football per player
Instructions
  1. Players push the ball forward and pull it back using the sole of their foot.
  2. Pass the ball behind the standing leg with the inside of the foot.
  3. Control the ball quickly with the sole of the opposite foot.
  4. Progress through skill stages: start with a stationary ball, then increase touch speed, and finally add different ball manipulation moves.
Coaching Points
  • Maintain close ball control.
  • Keep your head up for better awareness.
  • Foster a positive and focused mindset.
  • Perfect the dragging and rotating techniques.
  • Increase speed as proficiency develops.
  • Keep knees slightly bent and stay light on your feet.
  • Ensure smooth rhythm in movements.
  • Encourage gradual increase in move speed and fluency.
  • Master distinct stepping techniques with accuracy.
  • Cultivate balance and coordination through practice.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the speed required for each move.
2. Introduce more challenging combination moves.
3. Reduce the size of the practice area.
Make it easier:
1. Allow more time for each execution.
2. Use larger space for easier control.
3. Simplify the move by removing the behind-leg pass.
