- Markers for playing area
Setup
- Area: 15x20 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 2 blue attacking players start at one end of the area, level with the two ball-topped cones
- Neutral: 1 black defending player starts at the opposite end of the area, level with the single ball-topped cone
- Equipment: cones marking the 15x20 area, 2 balls balanced on cones at one end (attackers' end), 1 ball balanced on a cone at the opposite end (defender's end)
Instructions
- The two attackers aim to pass and move to knock the ball off the cone at the defender's end.
- The defender tries to intercept and attack the two cones with balls at the attackers' end.
- Rotate roles frequently to maintain engagement.
- Encourage quick play and decision-making under pressure.
Coaching Points
- Communicate effectively with teammates.
- Maintain proper spacing and positioning.
- Use appropriate angles and distances to support the ball carrier.
- Make quick and accurate decisions on and off the ball.
- Keep your head up to scan the field.
- Focus on quality of passes, including timing and disguise.
- Utilize body shape to aid movement and control.
- Be aware of passing options and choose the most effective pass.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area to increase intensity.
2. Add a time limit for attackers to score.
3. Use a smaller ball for greater control difficulty.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area to allow more space.
2. Allow a neutral player to assist attackers.
3. Reduce the defender count to give attackers easier access to the cone.
