Setup
- Area: 18-yard box (18x44 yards), marked with cones if not clearly visible
- Goals: One large goal centred on the goal line at the edge of the 18-yard box
- Group: 3 red outfield players positioned just outside the 18-yard box, each starting with a ball, two acting as passers and one as a passive defender
- Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line in the goal
- Equipment: Cones marking the 18-yard box boundary if not clearly visible
Instructions
- The two passers exchange passes with high intensity.
- The defender applies passive pressure without tackling.
- At the appropriate moment, the feeder shouts 'turn' as the ball is passed.
- The receiving player turns and shoots at goal quickly.
- After the shot, players rotate roles and repeat the drill.
Coaching Points
- Focus on a quality first touch.
- Execute a quick, effective turn.
- Use disguise to fool the defender.
- Maintain awareness with head up, checking for space and teammates.
- Show a positive, attacking mindset.
- Ensure a precise finish on goal.
- Communicate clearly, especially when signaling the turn.
- Create space through intelligent movement.
- Encourage varied techniques to build confidence.
- Decision-making should be guided, but not dictated.
- Feeders aim to choose the most advantageous pass.
- Highlight how these movements are useful in game situations.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the defender's pressure level.
2. Limit time for receiving and turning.
3. Use a smaller shooting target for more accuracy.
Make it easier:
1. Allow more time to receive and turn.
2. Use a larger shooting target.
3. Decrease the intensity of passes between the feeders.
