Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones or pylons for marking areas
  • Footballs
  • Goals with goalkeepers
Setup
  1. Area: 30x20 yard area marked with cones, divided into two wide zones and a central zone
  2. Goals: One goal at each end line, one in each team's defending wide zone
  3. Team Red: 5 red outfield players — 3 positioned in their attacking wide zone forming a 3v2 attack, 2 positioned in the opposite wide zone acting as the 2 defenders there
  4. Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the Red team's defending goal
  5. Team Blue: 5 blue outfield players — 3 positioned in their attacking wide zone forming a 3v2 attack, 2 positioned in the opposite wide zone acting as the 2 defenders there
  6. Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the Blue team's defending goal
  7. Equipment: Cones marking the two wide zones and central zone, with several footballs placed around the field edges for restarts
Instructions
  1. Attackers start unopposed until they touch the ball.
  2. Each attacker begins with a ball from the edge and attacks the opposing goal, rotating turns.
  3. Teams alternate roles between attacking and defending after a set number of attempts.
  4. Ensure ball starting points vary around the pitch for dynamic attacking angles.
  5. Encourage attackers to choose their attack initiation points.
Coaching Points
  • Utilize space rapidly in 3v2 situations.
  • Make quick decisions post first ball touch.
  • Foster effective teammate communication during attacks.
  • Defensive focus on staying compact and channeling play to less dangerous zones.
  • Execute runs with optimal timing and angles to generate scoring opportunities.
  • Goalkeepers should stay aware of variable shooting angles.
  • Diversify attacker starts to disorient defenders.
  • Maintain energy and swiftly switch roles.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase defensive numbers, making it 3v3.
2. Restrict attackers to two touches before shooting.
Make it easier:
1. Reduce defender numbers, creating a 3v1 setup.
2. Allow attackers unlimited touches before shooting.
