Equipment
- Balls (4)
- Cones (4 for the square)
Setup
- Area: 5x5 yard square marked with cones
- Group: 4 blue players, one positioned on each side of the square perimeter, each with a ball
- Neutral: 1 black player positioned in the center of the square without a ball
- Equipment: 4 cones marking the corners of the 5x5 yard square, 4 balls one per perimeter player
Instructions
- Players on the perimeter attempt to dribble across the square or reach an adjacent side without being tagged.
- Successful dribbles across score two points; reaching an adjacent side scores one point.
- If a player is tagged three times, they swap with the center player.
Coaching Points
- Maintain close ball control.
- Use disguise to confuse the defender.
- Keep your head up to assess the situation.
- Move the ball into open spaces quickly.
- Use speed and acceleration to gain advantage.
- Practice using both feet.
- Change direction swiftly if needed.
- Develop spatial awareness.
- Make positive moves that involve calculated risk.
- Exploit moments when the defender is off-balance.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Decrease the size of the square to 4x4 yards.
2. Add a second defender in the middle.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the square to 6x6 yards.
2. Allow tagged players four attempts before swapping roles.
