Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones for marking the 30x20 yard area and zones
  • Three goals
  • Soccer balls
Setup
  1. Area: 30x20 yard area marked with cones, divided into three equal 10x20 yard zones
  2. Goals: One goal positioned at the end line of each zone, three goals total along one end of the area
  3. Team Red: 6 red outfield players start in Zone 1, split into 3 attackers and 3 defenders for that zone's 3v3
  4. Team Blue: 6 blue outfield players start in Zone 2, split into 3 attackers and 3 defenders for that zone's 3v3
  5. Neutral: 6 black outfield players start in Zone 3 as the third team, split into 3 attackers and 3 defenders for that zone's 3v3
  6. Equipment: Cones marking the 30x20 yard outer boundary and the two lines dividing it into three equal zones, three goals spaced one per zone along one end line, soccer balls for play
Instructions
  1. The starting team aims to score by getting past two lines of defenders.
  2. Defenders must stay within their allocated zones.
  3. Rotate teams between attacking and defending roles after each round.
  4. Track scores and rotate positions regularly.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage constant communication among team members.
  • Focus on a good first touch to control the ball.
  • Keep your head up to be aware of options.
  • Move the ball into open spaces actively.
  • Vary passing angles, avoid straight lines when possible.
  • Prioritize forward plays when feasible.
  • Ensure accurate and well-timed passes with appropriate technique.
  • Select the best type of pass for the situation.
  • Support teammates with proper angles and distances.
  • Maintain awareness of all passing options available.
  • Use your body shape effectively to protect and pass the ball.
  • Create and utilize space for effective play.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively as a team.
  • Make early and informed decisions on passing.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of each zone to increase pressure.
2. Require attackers to complete a set number of passes before scoring.
3. Add an extra defender to each zone.
Make it easier:
1. Remove one line of defense for a single line.
2. Allow players to move freely between zones.
3. Increase the size of the goals to make scoring easier.
