Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Balls
  • Cones or markers to set up the playing area and divide into zones
Setup
  1. Area: 30x20 yard area divided into three equal 10x20 yard zones
  2. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts in the middle zone, positioned to intercept passes crossing it
  3. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts in one outer zone with a ball
  4. Neutral: 1 black outfield player starts in the opposite outer zone with a ball
  5. Equipment: cones marking the corners of the 30x20 yard area and the two lines dividing it into three equal zones
Instructions
  1. Teams in the outer zones (blue and purple) pass the ball among themselves, trying to find the right moment to pass into the opposite zone.
  2. The middle zone team (red) attempts to intercept passes that cross their zone.
  3. A pass from one outer zone successfully reaching the other zone scores a point.
  4. The middle team scores a point after three interceptions.
  5. Rotate roles after a set time or a defined number of points.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage clear communication and awareness.
  • Maintain good angles and distances for support.
  • Ensure decision-making is early and effective, both on and off the ball.
  • Keep heads up to observe surroundings.
  • Move decisively to create space.
  • Deliver accurate, timely, and disguised passes.
  • Use both feet to control and pass the ball.
  • Keep passes low, on the ground to maintain control.
  • Recognize opportune moments for forward passes.
  • Maintain fast, confident ball movement.
  • Encourage decision-making that promotes keeping possession.
  • Continually assess defender positions.
  • Adapt positioning and movements based on play flow.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the number of interceptions required for a point by the middle zone team.
2. Limit the touches allowed per player in the outer zones.
3. Reduce the space of each zone to increase pressure.
Make it easier:
1. Allow longer time for possession in the outer zones.
2. Increase the size of the middle zone to give defenders more space to cover.
3. Reduce the number of successful passes needed for a point.
