Equipment
- Cones for the 50x30 yard area and 10-yard end zones
- Four small goals, two per end line
- Soccer balls
Setup
- Area: 50x30 yard area with 10-yard end zones at each end, marked with cones.
- Goals: Two small goals on each end line, one at each end.
- Team Red: 4 red outfield players start positioned in the central zone.
- Team Blue: 4 blue outfield players start positioned in the central zone.
- Neutral: 1 black neutral floating player starts in the central zone.
- Equipment: Cones marking the 50x30 yard area and the 10-yard end zones at each end, plus four small goals, two positioned on each end line.
Instructions
- The attacking team combines passes to score in one of the two goals.
- Attackers cannot enter the end zone until dribbling over the line.
- The first attacker who dribbles into the end zone can score with or without teammates.
- Defenders aim to win and counter-score at the opposite end.
- Restart play when a goal is scored or ball goes out, with possession to the non-scoring team.
- Defenders may enter the end zone for recovery only after attackers dribble in.
Coaching Points
- Communicate constantly to organize the defense
- Maintain focus and adjust positioning dynamically
- Keep a good body shape—low and side on
- Nearest defender should close down the ball quickly
- Display patience and remain compact
- Win the ball when opportunities arise
- Always provide cover for teammates
- Quickly block possible passing lanes
- Defensive players should maintain orientation toward the ball
- Apply teamwork to double-team the ball carrier
- Learn positional play both in and out of possession
- Execute quick counter-attacks when opponents overcommit
- Develop individual defending skills, including jockeying and tackling
- Function cohesively as a defensive unit
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the area size to 40x20 yards to increase pressure.
2. Add a required number of passes before attempting to score.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the area size to 60x40 yards for more space.
2. Allow attackers to enter the end zone without dribbling in first.
3. Use only one goal for defenders to focus on during counter-attacks.
