Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Soccer balls (one per player)
  • Cones for marking area and tagging
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
  2. Group: 1 player starts with a ball, spaced out within the area
  3. Coach: 1 grey coach positioned inside the area holding a cone to tag players' balls
  4. Equipment: Cones marking the corners/perimeter of the 20x20 area, plus 1 cone held by the coach for tagging
Instructions
  1. Players dribble within the defined area, keeping close control of the ball.
  2. Coach attempts to place a cone on dribbling players' balls.
  3. Once tagged, players swap their ball for a cone and attempt to tag others' balls.
  4. Continue until only one player remains dribbling.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage constant movement and dribbling control.
  • Maintain spatial awareness to avoid collisions.
  • Use various parts of the foot for effective dribbling.
  • Adapt speed while dribbling based on spatial conditions.
  • Emphasize enjoyment and full participation by all.
  • Allow the game dynamics to teach instead of direct coaching.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area to increase difficulty.
2. Allow two coaches to tag balls simultaneously.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area for more space.
2. Allow players to rejoin the game once they have tagged two others.
