Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • 20x20 yard marked area
  • Cones for halfway line
  • Footballs
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones, divided by a halfway line into two 10x20 yard halves.
  2. Team Blue: 8 blue outfield players in possession, spaced evenly 4 per half, positioned across their own 10x20 half.
  3. Team Red: 4 red outfield players defending, positioned 2 per half, starting centrally within each 10x20 half.
  4. Equipment: 4 cones marking the corners of the 20x20 area, cones marking the halfway line, 2 footballs (one per half, starting with the attackers in each half).
Instructions
  1. Start with a possession game where teams play 4v2.
  2. Defenders aim to regain possession three times before switching roles.
  3. Attackers win by completing ten passes, with two extra points for splitting defenders.
  4. Rotate attackers and defenders regularly.
Coaching Points
  • Communicate effectively with teammates.
  • Maintain optimal angles and distances for support.
  • Make quick, early decisions both on and off the ball.
  • Keep moving to create passing options.
  • Ensure passes are accurate, well-timed, and sometimes disguised.
  • Stay light on your feet for agility.
  • Offer quick support after passing.
  • Shape your body to receive passes efficiently.
  • Avoid forcing passes; keep the ball circulating smoothly.
  • Play fast, confident passes to maintain possession.
  • Execute passes with proper technique and weight.
  • Be aware of and decide on effective passing options.
  • Foster teamwork through effective passing angles and support.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase defensive pressure by adding an extra defender (4v3).
2. Reduce the area size to increase intensity.
3. Limit the number of touches for attackers.
Make it easier:
1. Increase area size to provide more space.
2. Allow attackers unlimited touches.
3. Reduce the number of passes required to win the game.
