Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones
  • Goal
  • Goalkeeper
  • Balls
Setup
  1. Area: Penalty box area
  2. Goals: One large goal centred on the goal line of the penalty box
  3. Group: 2 red outfield players, positioned in two lines behind cones within the penalty box, facing each other
  4. Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the goal
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the starting position of each of the two lines within the penalty box, balls at the front of the line closest to goal for serving
Instructions
  1. The receiving player half volleys the ball toward the goal as it rises after bouncing.
  2. Swap roles frequently, encouraging the use of both feet by switching sides.
  3. Repeat the process, maintaining focus on technique and accuracy.
Coaching Points
  • Prioritize accuracy over power.
  • Encourage players to keep their heads up and maintain a positive approach.
  • Emphasize the quality of each finish.
  • Stress repetition for improving shooting technique.
  • Promote balanced use of both feet.
  • Focus on hitting the target consistently.
  • Encourage players to adjust their pace for better technical execution.
  • Ensure players move towards the ball for effective receiving.
  • Demonstrate striking technique: sight the ball, plant the non-kicking foot, lean slightly over, lock the ankle, strike with the laces, and follow through.
  • Stress the importance of keeping eyes on the ball while staying on their toes.
  • Direct the standing foot toward the target.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the time players have to react by quickening the serving sequence.
2. Increase the distance between the server and the receiver.
Make it easier:
1. Decrease the distance between server and receiver for easier ball control.
2. Allow a controlled touch before striking to enhance accuracy.
