Equipment
- Cones or markers to define the practice area
- One ball per player
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 1 player stands stationary with a ball inside the area
- Equipment: Cones or markers defining the corners of the 20x20 yard area, 1 ball per player positioned at each player's feet
Instructions
- Begin with players practicing a stationary feint.
- Progress to performing the move while dribbling.
- Increase speed and integrate additional feints.
- Implement the move in small-sided scenarios.
- Encourage use of both dominant and non-dominant feet.
Coaching Points
- Maintain close ball control
- Use body for disguise
- Keep head up, scanning surroundings
- Focus on acceleration post-feint
- Execute smooth technique
- Adjust speed and timing
- Ensure slightly bent knees for balance
- Aim for fluency in combining moves
- Develop comfort for 1v1 situations
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the size of the practice area.
2. Introduce passive defenders to pressure the players.
3. Require players to combine three or more moves.
Make it easier:
1. Reduce the size of the practice area for better control.
2. Allow for practice with a stationary defender.
3. Reduce the complexity by focusing on one move at a time.
