Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Six balls per pair
  • Cones for marking area
  • Stopwatch (optional for timing)
Setup
  1. Area: 15x10 yard area divided into two channels, each with a 2-yard central defender zone marked by cones.
  2. Team Red: 2 red outfield players, one positioned in the central defender zone of each channel.
  3. Team Blue: 4 blue outfield players, two positioned at the starting end of each channel (opposite the defender zone).
  4. Equipment: Cones marking the outer 15x10 area and the boundaries of the two channels plus each 2-yard defender zone; six balls stacked at the attackers' end of each channel (12 balls total).
Instructions
  1. Start with an attacker passing a ball into play.
  2. Attackers work together to move the ball to the opposite end while outmaneuvering the defender.
  3. If defenders intercept, play restarts with a new ball.
  4. Continue until all six balls are used, then rotate player roles.
  5. Aim to complete in the least amount of time.
Coaching Points
  • Maintain close control of the ball.
  • Use effective communication with your partner.
  • Focus on a good first touch.
  • Keep your head up to assess options.
  • Move the ball swiftly into space.
  • Utilize quick changes in direction.
  • Employ quality dribbling to beat the defender.
  • Accelerate decisively when space is available.
  • Create space individually and for teammates.
  • Perform fast combinations to bypass defense.
  • Stay composed under pressure, retaining possession.
  • Make quick strategic runs.
  • Be patient in build-up if necessary.
  • Show attacking intent towards the defender.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area to increase pressure.
2. Add an additional defender to create a 3v2 scenario.
3. Limit attackers to two touches each to enhance speed of play.
Make it easier:
1. Increase width of the playing area to allow more space.
2. Remove the central zone for defender, allowing free movement.
3. Allow attackers unlimited touches to build confidence.
