Equipment
- Cones (to create 20x20 yard area)
- 3 Mini goals
- Multiple soccer balls
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Goals: One mini goal positioned on each of three sides of the area (e.g. north, south, and east sides)
- Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts behind the north-side goal, ready to attack the south-side goal
- Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts behind the south-side goal, ready to counter-attack toward the north-side goal
- Neutral: 1 black outfield player (third rotating team) starts behind the east-side goal, ready to attack the active player from the opposite end
- Equipment: Cones marking the 20x20 yard square boundary, 3 mini goals placed one on each of the north, south, and east sides, multiple soccer balls held at each team's starting position behind their goal
Instructions
- Red team starts by attacking the White team's goal.
- After Red's attack, a White player counter-attacks towards the Red goal.
- If the defender regains possession, they can attempt to score at the opposite goal.
- A Blue player then attacks the active White player from the other end.
- Continue the sequence ensuring each team rotates through attacking, defending, and resting phases.
Coaching Points
- Use deception to outsmart defenders.
- Maintain close ball control.
- Keep your head up for better decision making.
- Approach each challenge with positivity and intent.
- Focus on quick acceleration to beat opponents.
- Fully exploit 1v1 opportunities.
- Employ skills using both feet effectively.
- Adapt and change direction swiftly when necessary.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the space to increase pressure and intensity.
2. Make it a 2v2 scenario to require more teamwork.
3. Limit the number of touches each player can make during their turn.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the area for more space.
2. Allow unlimited touches to encourage control and comfort.
3. Use larger goals to make scoring easier.
