Equipment
- Cones for marking the playing area and circle
- Small cones for center obstacles
- Balls
Setup
- Area: 30x30 yard area with a circle marked inside using cones.
- Group: 8 red players, 4 starting inside the circle at its edge each with a ball, and 4 spaced evenly around the outside of the circle.
- Equipment: cones marking the boundary of the 30x30 yard area and the circle within it, small cones scattered randomly at the center of the circle as dribbling obstacles, balls with each of the 4 inside players.
Instructions
- Players with balls dribble through the cones to the center of the circle.
- Upon reaching the center, they pass to an outside player.
- The outside player returns the ball for a one-two, then dribbles into the circle.
- Repeat the passing and dribbling process continuously.
Coaching Points
- Encourage clear communication between players.
- Focus on accurate passing and receiving techniques.
- Maintain a good first touch and awareness in tight spaces.
- Ensure progressive intensity to increase cardiovascular engagement.
- Keep players hydrated and engaged.
- Ensure players warm up adequately to prevent injuries.
- Emphasize smooth movement and quick decision-making.
- Make warm ups fun and relevant to subsequent drills.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the circle's size to increase dribbling difficulty.
2. Add more players within the circle to increase congestion.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the circle's size to allow more space.
2. Reduce the number of cones in the center for easier dribbling paths.
