Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones for marking the 30x30 yard area and gates
  • 8 Balls for the attackers
Setup
  1. Area: 30x30 yard area marked with cones, with a 2-yard gate near each corner
  2. Team Red: 4 red outfield players start spaced freely within the area as defenders
  3. Team Blue: 8 blue outfield players start spread across the area, each with a ball
  4. Equipment: Cones marking the 30x30 yard area and four 2-yard gates near each corner, 8 balls for the blue attackers
Instructions
  1. Attackers aim to dribble through any of the gates to score a point.
  2. After scoring, attackers must dribble back to re-enter the area from any side.
  3. Defenders attempt to win possession and score a point for each successful interception.
  4. Rotate defenders and attackers regularly to provide variety and ensure balanced practice.
Coaching Points
  • Maintain close control of the ball when dribbling.
  • Make quick decisions on when and where to dribble.
  • Keep your head up to observe the field.
  • Show a positive attitude when attacking.
  • Use quality techniques to beat defenders.
  • Increase speed when confident and competent.
  • Focus on creating and exploiting space in 1v1 scenarios.
  • Utilize dribbling skills with both feet for versatility.
  • Practice changing direction quickly under pressure.
  • Build confidence in executing dribbling techniques.
  • Protect the ball to retain possession.
  • Acceleration and quick feet are essential.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the gates to increase difficulty.
2. Limit the number of touches attackers can take before reaching a gate.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the gate size to make it easier for attackers.
2. Add an additional attacker to reduce defensive pressure.
3. Allow attackers to use a supporting player to make a pass before going through the gate.
