- Balls
- Cones or markers for boundary
Setup
- Area: 25x25 yard area marked with cones
- Team Blue: 2 blue outfield players start inside the area with a ball, spaced evenly to begin passing
- Team Red: 2 red outfield players start lined up outside the grid, ready to enter one at a time in sequence
- Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 25x25 yard area, balls used by the attacking group inside the area
Instructions
- Attackers aim to complete five consecutive passes inside the area.
- Once achieved, one defender enters to challenge for possession.
- Attackers attempt another five passes, prompting another defender to enter.
- Defenders collaborate to regain possession or force errors.
- Alternate roles between attackers and defenders periodically.
Coaching Points
- Encourage sharp, accurate passing to retain possession.
- Maintain quick ball movement to cope with increasing pressure.
- Focus on producing effective end products under pressure.
- Ensure aerobic activity simulates game situations, progressively increasing intensity.
- Monitor players' workload to maintain high performance and prevent burnout.
- Provide adequate recovery time to facilitate adaptation and avoid overtraining.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the number of passes required before introducing a defender.
2. Increase the playing area size to make it more challenging for attackers.
3. Allow defenders to enter after every three passes.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the number of passes required before each defender enters.
2. Limit the number of defenders entering the area at one time.
3. Decrease the size of the playing area to aid attackers.
