- Cones or Markers
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones or markers
- Group: 9 players split into 3 groups of three, with one player centred in the middle of the area and one player positioned on each of two opposite sides of the area, each group given one ball
- Equipment: Cones or markers marking the corners of each 20x20 yard area, 1 ball per group of three
Instructions
- The central player moves to receive the ball using the inside of the far foot.
- Pass to the opposite teammate maintaining control.
- Outside players move along their side for better angles.
- Rotate central players every few minutes.
Coaching Points
- Emphasize clear communication among players.
- Focus on a good first touch and body shape.
- Encourage keeping the head up for early options.
- Ensure quality of pass—accuracy, timing, and disguise.
- Receive on the furthest foot for a forward stance.
- Stay light on feet, practice using both feet.
- Maintain movement, show strong angles and support distance.
- Be on the half-turn when receiving for unpredictability.
- Observe and adapt rapidly, making key technique adjustments.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area.
2. Increase the pace of passing and movement.
Make it easier:
1. Enlarge the playing area for more space.
2. Allow stationary outside players to simplify pass reception.
